The energetic Brian Ryder, star of three of our DVDs, tells me he is joining in the Royal Institute of Oil Painters painting day and picnic at Richmond Bridge on the Thames on May 5. In addition to Brian other ROI members attending include Peter Wileman (President) David Curtis, Ronald Morgan and Philip James. It's a wonderful opportunity to paint alongside ROI members. The event is open to Friends of the ROI only which anyone can join. Eevents like this are just one of the benefits of membership. Email me for a membership application : royaloil@btinternet.com
If you are already a member of the Friends and want to book a place to this free event please contact Roger Dellar on roger.dellar@btinternet.com or call 01428 604504

John Tookey PS is one of the most exciting pastel painters in this country and he tells me he has four pictures in this year's Pastel Society Exhibition at London's Mall Galleries. It runs from April 20 to May 1
Here's one of the pictures: Canal Reflections Farnhill. Click on picture to enlarge.
I am biased as I own four Tookey pastels - two of which he painted on our DVD Taking Risks With Pastels
I am very sad to announce that the man who makes our Firth watercolour painting frames, Graham Lowe, has died today. Graham was 83 and had been ill for some time. He was an astonishingly active man working right up until his recent illness. He took pride in making sure each Firth painting frame was just perfect. They were all hand made by Graham in his Essex workshop. He was a gentle, kind man who will be missed by all those who knew him. Our condolences to his wife Mary and his three chidren.
